Gwinnett County has one of the largest and best parks in the US. The Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR) department manages 39 parks along with several other facilities. The park system totals more than 8,000 acres. In 2008 GCPR won the prestigious National Recreation and Park Association Gold Medal award for “Excellence in Park and Recreation Management”.
Through the help of the 2001 SPLOST money funding, the park system in Gwinnett continues to grow providing nice open greenspaces for Gwinnett citizens to visit and enjoy.
